When Life Doesn't Match Your Dreams
Life is filed with twists and turns. What we hoped for and thought today would be, is rarely what it ends up being. Relationships falter, careers fizzle, health fades, and things constantly change. We are faced with choices we never thought we would have to make and situations we prayed we never would have to deal with. Yet, in all of it, God is at our side even when He feels far away. In When Life Doesn’t Match Your Dreams, Jill draws on her extensive research into women of the Old Testament and shares what we can learn about trusting God through these women’s lives. From Eve, Noah’s wife, Hagar, Lots’ wife, Rachel, and several others you and I get to see what these women did right and what they did wrong in the face of shattered expectations and dashed dreams.
I am thankful that When Life Doesn’t Match Your Dreams exists in a time where the pressure to create a “perfect” life is so strong. Nothing is perfect and no one is perfect, including us. It shouldn’t surprise us when things turn upside down and our heart hurts. I have been subject to change beyond my control and my own bad decisions ripping and tearing away at the relationships around me. Life hurts, but God is with us. Jill does a brilliant job of telling these women’s stories and pointing out BOTH the positive and negative aspects of how they lived out life. There is no such thing as the perfect woman, but the greatest ones are the ones that turn to God, even when they have messed up. They are great because God is greater. If you are in a time of dealing with unmet expectations, broken dreams, and the hard twists of life you will find encouragement in this book.
I received this book for free from Revell in exchange for my honest review.
